MARCH SCHEDULE

Activity schedule coming soon.

March 4: Imagination Library is reading the Dolly Parton book, I Am a Rainbow.  Dolly’s story is based on a song of hers about emotions and how they are represented in different colors.  For our craft, we will be designing watercolor representations of emoticon faces while also learning about color theory. Click to see the craft PDF >

March 11:  In the season of stories of lucky coins and pots of gold buried at the end of a rainbow, we will look at how those themes have been used in myths and tales all over the world across centuries.  For our craft, we will design our own “lucky coin”, thinking about what attributes a lucky coin would have.  Financial literacy, one coin at a time - putting the "cent" in Centennial.

March 18: We will tell about the mythical goddess of the hearth, Hestia and how the Parthenon cast had a surprise inside. (A vintage m&m’s wrapper and nesting materials left behind showed a mouse had made a home or “caring hearth” in Hestia’s toe decades ago). For the craft…materials will be available to create art inspired by the “surprise”.

March 25: The art of Lakesha Moore in the Tennessee Triennial Exhibition displayed in The Parthenon’s West Gallery has layered landscapes of color and form which tell stories of the artist's quest for health and a doctor’s recommendation of colorful foods.  Kidsville will look at what colorful foods are good for our health and create layered collage art for our craft.
