Afterschool Program

Extending the benefits of Kidsville throughout the community

Did you know Kidsville goes on the road beyond Centennial Park?

Kidsville’s Afterschool Arts Education program serves K-5 students from Title I Metro Nashville Public Schools who are enrolled in afterschool community center programs. Meeting for two hours weekly, over two 8-week sessions in the fall and spring, teaching artists guide their students through music, dance, and various visual arts activities designed to stimulate young minds. This program actively demonstrates the value of the arts in their lives - and how the arts can continue to serve them into their future.

The program is offered at no charge and will reach at least 300 unduplicated registered students this year. Kidsville’s outreach program is currently based on a flexible curriculum that empowers teaching artists to mold activities to fit their primary artistic medium, past teaching experience, and the ages of students at their community center.

“The kids truly thrived in the Kidsville program here at Looby Community Center. Their eagerness to learn and explore new activities was evident in every session. Watching them apply newly learned skills and collaborate with each other was incredibly rewarding. It was clear that the program's approach resonated deeply with them, fostering both their curiosity and their ability to work as a team. We are thankful to have Kidsville and look forward to working with them each year!”
